At 4:15pm on Friday 2 February 2007, our Tamworth aircraft B407 was travelling at 120 knots at 2,000 metres enroute to a serious motor vehicle accident at the New England township of Warialda, east of Moree. On board was Pilot David Davies, Aircrew Officer Jamie Yeo, Doctor Chris Trethewy and Critical Care Paramedic Stuart Harris.

When just 10 minutes from Warialda, a warning light appeared on the aircraft’s instrument panel, followed seconds later by a loud ‘bang’, vibration and loss of engine power.

Around 5:00pm, Saturday 1 February, a Westpac #RescueHelicopter was tasked by #NSWAmbulance to #Armidale Airport to transport a young boy injured in a motorcycle accident earlier in #Inverell. The boy was treated earlier by NSW Ambulance intensive care paramedics for abdominal injuries before being transported to Armidale where the helicopter's critical care medical team stabilised him before airlifting him to John Hunter Hospital.

Recently, a Westpac Rescue Helicopter was tasked by NSW Ambulance to assist the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) with a beacon search in the Newcastle area.

The search located the beacon near Newcastle Regional Heliport, with the aircraft crew finding the activated beacon in a boat in storage. The beacon was switched off and taken back to base, with a debrief provided to AMSA.
